Day 10 - Equipment Storage in Downtown Harvard

Harvard Police refuse to enforce most city parking ordinances in the business district and do so with the endorsement and blessings of the Mayor.  They are now providing 24 hour parking for construction equipment downtown operated by unlicensed contractors.  This elevating platform was parked at 4:25 pm on Friday, May 20, 2011 in a two hour parking space.  There is no parking from 3:00 am to 5:00 am, but no citations were issued for the ten nights it was there and none for exceeding the two hour parking limit were issued.  It was finally moved moved to the private parking area next to 104 West Front on Tuesday, May 31. One would think they could consult OSHA about parking equipment in the elevated position in a public area, but they don’t really care about public safety or supporting downtown businesses by enforcing parking ordinances.  The contractor is doing tuck pointing on the building at 14 North Ayer Street without a building permit or the required city license for contractors.  Just another example of how laws are selectively enforced by budget manipulators to the detriment of the citizens of Harvard and the few businesses left in Harvard.  And they wonder why business places are empty.  Welcome to Harvard Amigo.
